ComNav's Datalink Firmware Upgrade Enables Full Cross-Series Communication Compatibility of GNSS Receivers

Shanghai, China – May 27, 2025 – ComNav Technology Ltd. (ComNav) is proud to announce the release of its latest datalink firmware update, designed to resolve long-standing user challenges of GNSS Receivers. This upgrade breaks the limitations of legacy modules, significantly improving communication flexibility and interoperability across T, N and Universe lineup.

ComNav Receiver Series Overview

ComNav’s GNSS receivers fall into three categories:

T Series (T300, T300 PLUS, T30, T20)

Datalink Module: U50 

Supported Protocols: Transparent, MAC, TT450S, South

Range: 3-5km

N Series (N2, N3, N5 ) & Universe Series¹ (Mars, Jupiter )

Datalink Module: U70 

Previously Supported Protocol: SNLonglink

Range: 15km²

Due to differences in datalink modules and protocols, N Series and Universe Series receivers were previously incompatible with T Series devices—a limitation that has been a frequent customer concern.

GNSS Receiver’s Datalink Firmware Upgrade

After extensive R&D efforts, ComNav has successfully upgraded the N Series and Universe Series firmware to now also support Transparent, MAC, TT450S, South, in addition to SNLonglink. When you connect in Survey Master, you can choose based on your needs.

Key Benefits

With this firmware upgrade, N Series and Universe Series receivers can now seamlessly operate alongside T Series devices. In another words, when you set the base station (N Series or Universe Series), you can choose SNLonglink protocol, it can work with N Series or Universe Series rover, and achieve maximum radio mode working distances up to 15km; or you can also choose Transparent, MAC, TT450S or South protocol, it is compatible with T series or third-party rover supporting the same protocols. 

Apart from the GNSS receivers, the CDL7 firmware has also been upgraded to maintain compatibility with both T Series receivers and alternative market solutions.

Thus, this comprehensive upgrade delivers complete interoperability, eliminating previous compatibility limitations. Meanwhile, it enables streamlined integration with external devices from other manufacturers, providing greater flexibility in equipment selection. Most importantly, these enhancements translate into measurable operational improvements - users will experience both greater efficiency in their workflows and reduced equipment costs through optimized system configurations. Because, from the user’s perspective, it eliminates redundant equipment needs and maximizes existing receiver investments.

Compatibility Notes

For N3, N5, Mars, Jupiter GNSS receivers, it requires OS Firmware v1.4.7 + Survey Master 4.0.1

For N2 Palm GNSS receivers, it requires OS Firmware v1.1.6 + Survey Master 4.0.1

So, please verify OS and Survey Master versions before updating.
